Hortus Botanicus
Created in 1638, the Hortus Botanicus of Amsterdam is one of the oldest botanical gardens in Europe.
In this botanical garden were stored for thousands of exotic plants that served as base for medical studies of the world.
As a curiosity, in the Hortus Botanicus the first coffee plant of Europe was cultivated.
Although not too extensive, in the Hortus Botanicus you can visit several greenhouses with different climates. In a matter of minutes you can move from the humid tropical section to a totally desert climate.
The star of the garden is the palm tree, in its different types.
If you are traveling with children, you can take the opportunity to visit the botanical garden and then the Artis Zoo. Both locations are within walking distance of each other in the Plantage District.
